Bidgeebong 2005 Tumbarumba Sauvignon Blanc
Fruit was selected from a single vineyard high in the Tumbarumba region. It showed the wide range of flavours necessary for inclusion in our super-premium Tumbarumba range. Reductive winemaking techniques were employed to enhance the fruit characters and aromatics of cool-climate sauvignon blanc.
Tasting Notes:
The wine is pale straw in colour, and shows clean, crisp aromas of fresh tropical fruit and orange blossom. The palate is flavoursome and zesty, showing lemon, lime and tropical-fruit characters. It is a well balanced wine with a clean, lingering finish.
Points/ Awards:
Bidgeebong has been elevated to a five-star rating by James Halliday, one of Australia's most highly regarded wine critics, in his latest book, Australian Wine Companion 2008.The rating indicates: "Outstanding winery capable of producing wines of very high quality, and did so this year."
Comments:
The nose shows grassy and herbaceous citrus flavours. The palate is clean and fresh with bracing acidity giving way to green apple, grapefruit and tropical fruit characters. It's a vibrant wine on a clean acid, dry finish. - Jim McMahon, Education (Sydney) 10 March 2008
