The Coonawarra district in South Australia is world-renowned for producing red wines of great structure and ageing potential. Lindemans, with over 150 years of winemaking experience, has produced such a wine with the 1993 Pyrus - a blend of the classic Bordeaux varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.
From the fine vintage, this wine is reminiscent of the best of Bordeaux with a medium to full red ruby colour. The bouquet is an intense and complex mixture of red and dark berry aromas enhanced by hints of lemon from French oak maturation. The palate displays persistent plum and blackberry fruit complexed by freshly roasted coffee bean flavours - a product of barrel fermentation and maturation in French oak.
Regarded as one of the best ever made, the 1993 Pyrus has great fruit richness and structure. Careful cellaring will be rewarded with gains in complexity, richness and enjoyment.
