Tasting notes
This single estate wine was grown on the home vineyard of vignerons Matt & Jackie Jarvis in the heart of the Margaret River wine region.
2008 saw the climatic conditions in Margaret River return to form with warm summer days and cool nights leading up to vintage. Fortunately the Jarvis vineyard when was spared from the hail storm that hit Margaret River in November 2007. With no hail damage the vines were ready to produce one of the best crops for years.
From December onwards the season can only be described as “picture perfect” with a hot December and January. The conditions moderated during Autumn and gave Jarvis Estate a perfect three months through to harvest with no disease in the fruit and no inclement weather.
After machine harvesting the fruit in the cool of night it was immediately processed and underwent a long, slow ferment in stainless steel tanks.
The nose is restrained with peachy fruit aromas with a flicker of citrus coming though.
The palate is light to medium bodied in weight with beautiful stone fruit characters coming through. There is a real elegance to this wine with a lovely minerally textured mouthfeel on the finish. The fresh, fruit-driven style is best consumed chilled and is a great food match with any chicken or richer seafood dishes.
